VW boss Blume speaks plainly: "Porsche is in a massive crisis"

Oliver Blume, CEO of the VW Group and outgoing Porsche CEO, sees the sports car manufacturer in a delicate situation.
Blume told "Bild am Sonntag": "P orsche is in a massive crisis . With China, US tariffs, Russia, and Ukraine, revenues from two-thirds of its sales markets are missing."
Blume pointed out that a massive realignment had been implemented in 2025. "In terms of structures, costs, and product strategy." There were "massive investments in completely flexible drive systems: combustion engines, hybrids, and electric vehicles." He added that this had created a "very robust position for the future."
Blume emphasized: "Starting next year, there will be a clearly positive trend." He praised his successor, Michael Leiters . "Leiters was a candidate on my succession list," Blume said. He is a "sports car professional" and will be a "good Porsche CEO."
Blume also commented on the chip crisis affecting the Volkswagen Group in "Bild am Sonntag": "The current chip crisis shows how fragile our world is . Unlike the last semiconductor crisis, this concerns very simple chips that are used across industries, especially in cars. We at the Volkswagen Group are short-term supplies. We need a swift political solution."
